Steve Earle Releases Guy Clark Tribute Album

Steve Earle gives one of the best tribute albums to date and is paying homage to Guy Clark on his new album, 'Guy'.

Steve told Rolling Stones that he would pick the Guy Clark songs that he was most personally connected to, and that shows in the emotions and talents in this album from the first track to the last.

Steve and Guy's relationship runs deep. He recorded his first-ever demo in the kitchen of Clark’s modest home in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, where Guy’s wife Susanna was busy frying bacon.

“He got up every day and wrote. What I learned from Guy and Susanna more than anything else was that they call these things that artists do ‘disciplines’ for a reason. He wasn’t an angel; he had plenty of demons. But he found it necessary to work every day,” says Earle. “I discovered how much I learned from him in making a record like this.”

My personal favorite Guy Clark song is "Anyhow I Love You", which originally featured Emmylou Harris and Waylon Jennings in 1976. It's a rare love song that is salty, not sweet. It captures the urgent emotion without the hint of cliché, pretense, or even much romance. Steve Earle delivers this song beautifully.

I have to say this is one of my favorites that has been released today and I hope you enjoy it as much as I am!
