29 Years Ago Garth Released Debut Album
29 years ago today, the release of one debut album would change country music forever.
Garth Brooks released his self-titled album on April 12, 1989. The album peaked at number thirteen on the Billboard 200 and number two on the Top Country Albums charts.
"Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)" was the first career single from the album and went to number three on the Country Billboard Charts.
It was the release of "If Tomorrow Never Comes" that would earn Brooks his first number one hit.
"The Dance", also on the album, won Song of the Year and Video of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
