CMT Names 2017 Song of the Year
CMT has announced they will be presenting a new award at this year's CMT Artists of the Year ceremony. They will be presenting the 2017 Song of the Year Award.
With so many excellent country music songs this year, it could be hard for CMT to select just one. However when there is one song that continues to break records you have to give it the recognition it deserves. For that reason, CMT has chosen Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" as this year's recipient.
The song currently holds the record for most consecutive weeks at the top of Billboard's hot country songs chart as the longest running number one by a solo artist in history.
"Body Like a Back Road" is also this year's most-downloaded country song and number one most-streamed country song.
"‘Body Like a Backroad’ is the clear choice for this inaugural award,” said Frank Tanki, General Manager of CMT and TV Land. “It’s a cross-genre smash that’s bound to become one of Sam Hunt’s signature songs in a growing list of chart-toppers.”
CMT Artists of the Year special will air live October 18 at 8pm/ET.
